Catholic Bishops, Communion, and how the Bishops "washed their hands" of the abortion "problem"

Lifenews.com points to a recent decision by the Catholic Church to let local leaders decide whether or not to give communion to pro-abortion politicians. Catholic Bishops just gave up on their responsibility. The phrase "I wash my hands of this" comes to mind.

Doesn't this sound like the call that so many in the Pro-Life movement are making, namely the call of "let the states decide"? I am referring to Roe vs Wade of course.

If Roe vs Wade were just overturned, the legal issue of abortion would revert back to the states for them to decide the fate of human beings in the womb. I believe we need to end abortion at the national level. It should be illegal to kill human beings in the womb or who are helpless. To pass it back to the states will mean years of debate on the state level. Forget that.

Back to the Lifenews.com article.

(Cardinal) McCarrick told the bishops at the conference that he worried the politics of abortion was clouding the spiritual and Biblical issues surrounding communion and the church reaching out to others.

"My concern is the fear that the intense polarization and bitter battles of partisan politics may be seeping into the broader ecclesial life of our Catholic people and maybe even of our Conference," he said, according to a Reuters report.

"clouding"? I would say that the intense polarization of abortion should be dominating what's happening in Christian Churches today. Abortion is not a distraction from Jesus Christ, it's the point of Jesus Christ. He is the "way and the light" and represents LIFE, not the active or passive support of the killing of innocent human beings.

"Our concern is not politics, nor just particular policies, but their faith and even their salvation. These dialogues are not about winning votes, but saving souls," Reuters reported him saying.

So, Cardinal McCarrick believes that this topic is too controversial and partisan? Hmmm, I wonder how he feels about the death penalty? Isn't he worried about "the intense polarization and bitter battles of partisan politics"?

Nope.

Article

When referring to the death penalty Cardinal McCarric had this to say:

"But this campaign is new," said Cardinal Theodore E. McCarrick of Washington at the press conference where the campaign was announced. "It brings greater urgency and unity, increased energy and advocacy and a renewed call to our people and to our leaders to end the use of the death penalty in our nation."

I see, the death penaly, which is not given out lightly and is only given to those who have murdered other human beings in the most henious ways possible, is somehow more evil than abortion, which is the killing of innocent human beings in the womb. It is somehow "less controversial and partisan".

Our churches are being infiltrated by those who care more about pedophiles, criminals and global warming than innocent human beings in the womb.

The Catholic and all other Christian Churches need to lead on abortion and all other issues where morality is being decided. If abortion is immoral and murder, the leaders of the Catholic Church should say so and establish a precident for all parishes, not pass it on to local parishes. If a politician is pro-abortion and/or won't do anything to stop it, they need to be refused communion. How can people who support or don't condemn murder take the body and blood of Jesus Christ when they support the killing of 3,000 human beings a day? Would you give communion to Adolph Hitler today?

Don't bother telling me that there is no comparison between Adolph Hitler and the mass murder of babies in America and around the world today. Over 15 million human beings are slaughtered by abortion every single year around the world. Over one million in America alone, right in front of you, right in your neighborhood. Adolph was an amateur.

Why don't the Bishops stand up to abortion the way they should? In my opinion it's because they are afraid of losing money and they are being infiltrated by liberal leaders. It's not just the Catholic church. Christian Churches across the land refuse to deal with abortion. The only direction they want to go with challenging the culture of death is bringing in an occasional speaker from a crisis pregnancy center.

Sure, some preachers/ministers will say that abortion is bad, or something like that, but they won't say it frequently and they won't challenge their parishioners to speak out against abortion. What some of the other reasons why they don't want to speak out forcefully against abortion?

> Many parishioners have had abortions & they are afraid of sending the wrong message to them
> They believe it is an issue that the person has to decide for them self
> They are afraid that others in the pews won't agree with them and that it would either start dissension or cause people to leave
> They believe that parishioners will make the right decision if they are led to Christ

A large number of people sitting in the pews have had abortions or know men or women who have had them. A large number of them will have abortions and will encourage their wives/girlfriends to have them. Unless our church leaders do what they should be doing, abortion will continue with their hidden blessing.

Church leaders are turning their backs on the 3,000 human beings who are killed in America every single day. They are allowing this mass genocide to continue. They should be ashamed of themselves for not doing everything possible to stop this horror, but they do nothing. Church leaders are supposed to do exactly that, lead, not hide. This is more than a controversial topic, this is literally life or death!

How much longer? How much longer will our church leaders hide? Why is it that we, their parishioners, are the ones leading in the front lines? Don't get me wrong, I know there are people like Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer, the president of Human Life International, who are out there more than most of us, but they are the exception, not the rule. I know there are Pro-Life committees in parishes around the country, but the majority of them are dorment or are doing very little to challenge the culture of death. It's not their fault. It's the fault of church leadership who forgot that we are their flock and must be lead.

What should church leaders be doing? They should:

> be leading us to the front lines of the abortion movement
> be encouraging us to be responsible when it comes to sex and relationships
> encourage us regularly to not have abortions or use contraceptives which may kill human beings
> encourage us regularly to join them in prayer at abortion mills
> have conversations with political leaders and encourage them to support life
> refuse communion to those who are actively supporting, or won't speak out against the murder of innocent human beings

Church leaders should lead on these important topics.

Every year on the day of the annual March For Life, there are many church leaders who participate in a united outcry against abortion. The problem is, this event happens in a vacuum. We are "preaching to the choir", and the mainstream media completely ignores us. We need to keep the movement going the rest of the year and encourage everyone to participate in frequent united efforts.

This is why we started the Monthly Call for Life at monthlycallforlife.com. The idea is for all of us to unite once a month on the first Friday to let our representatives know we want them to represent life, not death. We call, email and/or picket a local government building. This is something simple that everyone can do, regardless of their schedule.

The first Saturday after the first Friday we encourage everyone to pray at a local abortion mill. You would be amazed at how many abortion mills there are in your area. Do a search in Yahoo & you will find them, & then make a commitment to pray in front of one of them at least once a month on the first Saturday which follows the first Friday.

Need more information? Go to monthlycallforlife.com. There is plenty of information there to help you get involved. We help you with who to call/email, when to call/email and what you might say. All you have to do is pick up the phone and open your email program. Then tell at least 1 other person about this effort and encourage them to join us.
